Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, is organizing a scientific course entitled “Mechanisms of Writing Historical Research for Undergraduate Students” for the period April 15–16, 2026.
The course aims to develop the skills of undergraduate students in preparing and writing historical research in accordance with simplified scientific foundations. This is achieved by introducing them to the concept and importance of scientific research, the mechanisms of topic selection, formulating research titles, and collecting information from appropriate sources and references.
The course also seeks to equip students with the skills necessary to organize and present ideas in a sound methodological manner, train them in basic documentation techniques, and enhance their abilities in analysis and inference, while discouraging mere copying. This contributes to the production of well-structured and academically sound research papers.
The course includes several themes, including: the concept of historical research and its steps, methods of selecting sources, fundamentals of documentation, structuring a research paper, as well as common mistakes in research writing and ways to address them.
