The College of Education for Humanities, in Cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, Organizes a Scientific Seminar Entitled “Baldwin IV, King of Jerusalem, during the Crusades”

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific seminar entitled “Baldwin IV, King of Jerusalem, during the Crusades” on Monday, April 20, 2026.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the personality of King Baldwin IV, known as the “Leper King,” and his role in governing the Kingdom of Jerusalem during a critical period of the Crusades. It also addressed the political and military challenges he faced, particularly his conflict with the Muslim leader Saladin, and the impact of this struggle on the balance of power in the region at that time.

Furthermore, the seminar examined the historical circumstances surrounding his reign, reviewed the major battles in which he participated, and discussed his role in maintaining the cohesion of the Crusader front despite his illness, presenting a unique model of leadership in medieval history.
