The College of Education for Humanities, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, Holds a Scientific Seminar Entitled (“Water Erosion and Its Effects on the Growth and Development of Landforms in River Valleys”)

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of Geography at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific seminar entitled (“Water Erosion and Its Effects on the Growth and Development of Landforms in River Valleys”) during the period 24–25/2/2026.

The seminar, chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Raed Abdulhaleem, Assistant Professor Dr. Mohammed Khalil, and Lecturer Dr. Ibrahim Farhan, aimed to shed light on the geomorphological processes associated with water erosion and to clarify their role in shaping landforms within river valleys. It also addressed the analysis of natural and human factors influencing the intensity and rates of erosion. Furthermore, the seminar sought to enhance scientific understanding of the mechanisms of erosion, transportation, and deposition, and their implications for the development of river channels and floodplains.

The course covered several scientific themes, including:

  1. The theoretical foundations of water erosion and its types.
  2. The role of climatic and geological characteristics in accelerating erosion processes.
  3. The impact of human activities on increasing erosion rates.
  4. Modern methods for studying and analyzing morphological changes in river valleys.

This seminar comes within the framework of the College’s commitment to supporting scientific and research activities and equipping students and researchers with modern applied knowledge that contributes to the development of their academic skills and enhances their awareness of contemporary environmental and geographical issues.
