The College of Education for Humanities, in Cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, Organizes a Scientific Seminar Entitled “The American Civil War (1861–1865)”

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Professor Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Professor Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History at the College, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a scientific seminar entitled “The American Civil War (1861–1865)” on Monday, April 13, 2026.

The seminar, delivered by Lecturer Dr. Lubna Naji Mohammed, aimed to shed light on the political, economic, and social causes that led to the outbreak of the American Civil War, as well as to highlight its major events, outcomes, and its impact on the formation of the modern American state. It also addressed the role of political and military leadership in managing the conflict and its effect on reshaping the federal system in the United States.

The seminar included discussions on several key themes, including the causes of division between the Northern and Southern states, the issue of slavery, military developments during the war, and its major consequences, most notably the abolition of slavery and the strengthening of national unity.
