As part of its awareness-raising efforts aimed at promoting community peace and consolidating the values of moderation, the College of Education for Human Sciences hosted an educational seminar entitled “Extremist Intellectual Repercussions and Their Impact on the Individual and Society” on Monday, 29 December 2025. The seminar was organized by the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the Presidency of Tikrit University, in cooperation with the Subcommittee for Combating Extremism in Salah al-Din Governorate.
The seminar addressed a number of intellectual and educational themes that highlighted the dangers of intellectual extremism and its negative repercussions on individual behavior and social cohesion. Emphasis was placed on the vital awareness-raising role of educational institutions in confronting such phenomena, fostering students’ critical awareness, and promoting a culture of dialogue and tolerance.
The seminar also witnessed active engagement from attendees through interventions and questions, which enriched the discussion themes and contributed to clarifying mechanisms of intellectual prevention and the role of psychological and educational counseling in limiting the spread of extremist ideas, with the aim of achieving a safe and stable university environment that contributes to building a cohesive society.
