The College of Education for Humanities, in Cooperation with the Ministry of Interior, Holds an Awareness Seminar Entitled “Risks of Addiction and Treatment Methods” as Part of the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Awareness Week

Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmood Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Humanities, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit organized an awareness seminar titled “Risks of Addiction and Treatment Methods” on Wednesday, November 19, 2025. The event was held in cooperation with the Ministry of Interior as part of the activities of the week dedicated to raising awareness about the dangers of narcotics and psychotropic substances.

The seminar aimed to shed light on the health, social, and psychological impacts of drug abuse, in addition to highlighting modern therapeutic approaches and the role of security and health institutions in combating this phenomenon. It also presented key challenges facing society and methods of prevention, emphasizing the importance of enhancing awareness among students and youth as the most targeted groups.

The seminar concluded with a set of recommendations stressing the need to strengthen cooperation between academic, security, and health institutions, and to intensify educational programs within universities to foster an aware environment capable of confronting the risks of addiction and limiting its spread.
