Under the patronage of the President of Tikrit University, Prof. Dr. Waad Mahmoud Raouf, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, the Department of History in the college, in cooperation with the Center for Continuing Education, held a scientific symposium on Sunday, October 26, 2025, entitled “The British Occupation of Iraq and the 1920 Revolution: From Submission to National Resistance.”
The symposium, managed by Prof. Dr. Anas Abdul-Khaliq Ayed and Lect. Dr. Lubna Naji Hitash, aimed to analyze the motives and causes behind the British occupation of Iraq, clarify the events and developments of the 1920 Revolution, and highlight the objectives of British control and the stages of domination over Iraqi cities.
The discussions also focused on the nature of British administration after World War I, the causes leading to the outbreak of the revolution, and the main battles and regions that took part in it, with special emphasis on the role of religious scholars, tribal leaders, and national figures in shaping the resistance movement.
The Dean of the College of Education for Human Sciences, Prof. Dr. Imad Hamid Ahmed, expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the faculty members in the Department of History for organizing such a valuable and insightful scientific event.
