A PhD dissertation was defended at the College of Education for Humanities, Department of Quranic Sciences and Islamic Education, at University of Tikrit on Wednesday (April 29, 2026), by the student Zubaida Maher Salih Al-Jubouri. The dissertation was entitled:
“Verses Related to Theology in the Section ‘The Time of Their Account Has Drawn Near for the People’: A Doctrinal Study.”
The study emphasizes that classical scholarship has long highlighted the significance of the poet’s psychological state and its influence on creative output. The literary text is thus viewed as a reflection of an internal structure in which personal experience interacts with social, cultural, and intellectual contexts. Creative work, therefore, is not merely a collection of linguistic structures or rhetorical images, but rather a complex product shaped by conscious and unconscious motivations that guide the creator at the moment of composition.
Accordingly, the study underscores the importance of examining psychological motives as a means of uncovering the deeper dimensions of literary texts. It includes an introductory section that defines the concept of “motive” from both linguistic and terminological perspectives, drawing on the views of classical and modern critics, while also providing a brief overview of the poet’s life and literary status.
